Creating Custom Dashboards

This article describes how to build a custom dashboard.

Introduction

Instead of being limited to one dashboard, with a maximum of four standard widgets, you can create your own custom dashboards, with the metrics that you care about the most. After a custom dashboard is created, it is assigned to the appropriate users.

A user can have one or more custom dashboards and switch between them to review the data that they need. The standard dashboard is also available at all times.

Each custom dashboard consists of the following:

  • A filter for properties and a date range.

  • A row of widgets, each showing a key performance indicator (KPI). There are 20 widgets that you can choose from.

  • A detail section that shows information about the currently selected widget (for example, a list of vacant units for the vacancy widget).

  • The calendar.

Security

We recommend that only an admin user should be given permission to create custom dashboards. The admin user can then assign custom dashboards to other users as appropriate.

On the Edit Page Access and Permissions screen, the permission for custom dashboards is in the Toolbox section.

To set up a custom dashboard

Go to Admin > Toolbox. On the Toolbox page, scroll down to the Configuration section and select Custom Dashboards.

The Custom Dashboard Widgets page appears. Click Add New.

The page displays a list of widgets.

Enter a name for the new dashboard; for example, "Accounts Receivable."

Select widgets for the dashboard by completing the Order field.

Click Save.

Breeze displays a list of the selected widgets.

Click the Users button. A list of users appears in a popup window.

Select the users that should have access to the new dashboard.

Click Save.
