This article describes how to give an owner a credit, and then how to apply the credit to an open charge. In the example below, we give an owner a credit for a referral.
To give an owner a credit
Open the Owner screen. Click Add Charge.
On the Charge screen, enter a negative amount.
Click Save.
The owner Ledger displays the credit.
Applying the owner credit
When you create a receipt for the owner, the credit charge appears along with any other open charges.
On the Receipt Information screen, you see the credit (-$50.00) and a charge for parking ($75.00). The Total shows the remainder is $25.00.
If the credit amount matches the charge amount exactly, the Total field displays zero, and the receipt is called a "zero receipt." No money is received, but you still need to create a receipt to use up the credit.
