You can add a signature file to your Breeze database and add it to the bank setup for cheque formatting. When you print cheques for that bank, Breeze will add the signature to each cheque.
Note: This is a Breeze Premier feature.
To prepare a signature file for Breeze
In an image-editing application, set the image size to the actual size at which you want the image to print and the resolution of the printer that you use for printing cheques. For signatures, a width of 2.5 inches by a height of 0.5 inches works for many cheque configurations.
Save the file as a .bmp or .jpg file. The file name must include "sig", for example, "smiths_sig.jpg". We recommend a file less than 50 KB.
To add the signature file to Breeze
Go to Admin > Toolbox > Bank Tools > Check Signature.
Click New.
Click Choose File. Locate the file on your local system and select it. The file name appears on the screen.
In Breeze, click Upload.
The new signature file appears on the Check Signature screen.
To add the signature file to the bank setup
Go to Accounting > Banking > Bank Accounts.
Open the bank account record and go to the Payment Setup tab.
Click the Edit icon (the pencil).
Scroll down to the Check Format section of the screen, and go to the second page.
Click the Add Signature Line button. Breeze adds a new line to the format.
Use the dropdown to select the signature file.
Scroll up to the top of the page and click Save.
Click the Test Check button to check the signature and the format changes. Breeze prints a sample cheque.
Make sure that the signature and the spacing are correct. If not, adjust the formatting and print another test cheque.
Cheque Signatures Based on Amounts
You can add an upper limit to a printed signature; for example, for cheques up to 500 dollars, Breeze prints the signature, but for larger amounts, the cheques must be signed manually. In the cheque formatting setup, complete the Amount To field with the upper limit for the printed signature.
You could also set up additional signature files for different amounts; for example, for amounts from 0 to 100.00, John Smith signs the cheque, and for anything over 100.00, Jane Doe's signature is required.
To use this feature, click the Add Signature Line again. Breeze adds another signature line below the first. Complete the Amount From and Amount To fields to define the range for each signature.
The following example shows three signatures.
The file on line 25 is used for cheques from .01 to 100.00; the file on line 26 for cheques from 100.01 to 2,000.00, and the file on line 27 for cheques from 2000.00 to 500,000.00.
Note: The From and To amounts set the limits of the range, but are not included in the range. For example, if the To field is set to 10,000, 9999 is included in the range but 10,000 is not.
