If you need to edit or delete a journal entry that is part of a posted batch, you can "unpost" the batch, making the journal entries editable. When you unpost, the original journal entries are taken out of the posted batch and put in a new, unposted batch.
Yardi recommends that this feature be limited to the current period. Unposting a batch from a closed period could change amounts in financial reports that have already been given to owners and investors. If you need to edit a journal entry in a closed period, we suggest reversing the original JE and re-entering it.
To unpost a journal batch
Go to Admin > Toolbox > Unpost Batch Journals.
The top part of the screen is a filter. Enter search criteria and click Find.
The bottom half of the screen displays the matching batches.
Select the batch (or batches) you want to unpost, and click the Unpost button.
Breeze displays a warning message.
Click Unpost.
Breeze moves the transactions to a new, unposted batch. The screen shows the New Batch Id on the right.
Note: Unpost Batch Journals only applies to journals, and not other transaction types.
Original Batch
If you open the old batch, you can see that there are no transactions, and there's a note that states it was unposted and gives the new batch number.
New Batch
The new batch is shown below. You can open the transactions, edit them as needed, and then post the batch.
To locate an unposted journal batch
Go to Accounting > Batches. Click on the Filter icon in the upper right-hand side, select 'Unposted' for the Status and 'Journal' for the type, then click the Apply button. You can then review all unposted Journal Batches.
