With the CHECKscan app, you can scan checks manually using a smart phone or tablet. The checks appear in Breeze, either as posted receipts (if the check can be linked to a tenant and a charge) or as unposted batches that you can review, edit, and post.
Prequisites
Before you can use CHECKscan, you need to set up online payments.
To use the CHECKscan app
Go to Google Play or the Apple store and download the CHECKscan app.
During the setup, the app will ask you for a domain name. The domain name is your Breeze URL, excluding "https://" and anything after "breeze".
For example, if your Breeze URL is https://12345XXXX.breeze.cafe/content/login#/appaccess/login, your domain name is "12345XXXX.breeze".
Open the app after it has been set up.
To log in, use the same username and password that you do for Breeze.
After login, the following page appears.
Click the menu icon in the upper left
. The menu opens.
Select Scan Check. The Start scanning page appears.
Take photos of the check you want to deposit, front and back. For the best results when taking a photo of a check:
Try to capture the check with as little white space around it as possible.
Place the check on a dark surface, so the image is clear.
Make sure the flash is off before taking the photo.
These tips help make sure your check images are clear and easy to process.
The app reads the MICR line and the amount, and displays them on the screen, along with an image of the check.
Tap Submit. The app displays a confirmation message.
If the MICR can be associated with a tenant and the amount matches the open charges, the app creates a posted receipt in Breeze. If not, the app creates an unposted CHECKscan batch and receipt in Breeze.
To review an unposted batch from the CHECKscan app
In Breeze, you can associate a check with a tenant or change the MICR if it was read incorrectly.
Go to Accounting > Accounts Receivable > CHECKScan. Locate the batch and open it.
Breeze displays the batch. In this case, there was a problem reading the MICR.
Click the Transit button to open the check.
In this case, the Transit Number is wrong -- the last digit should be 1, not 0. Change it and click Rebuild MICR.
Click Save.
Click the Receipt button.
The New Receipt screen appears.
Note: The screenshot above does not show the complete screen. In Breeze, the check image is visible on the right.
Select a tenant. Breeze displays the open charges.
Select the charges that you want to pay off, and click Save.
You can then Post the batch.
To post the batch
In the CHECKscan Batch screen, click Post. Breeze creates a posted receipt batch and a deposit record for the batch.
Can I delete the Check?
Yes, if you need to resubmit a failed CHECKScan you can delete and re-scan from the Batch or in a new Batch.
